Our Story
Welcome to Smithfield Carman United Church — a joyful, close-knit country church where faith and fellowship flourish. We are blessed to worship and serve across two historic sites: one nestled in the countryside and more than 200 years old, and the other in the small village of Smithfield, a beloved gathering place for over 150 years. Both churches are rich in history, beautifully maintained, and deeply rooted in the spirit of community.
Our congregation is modest in size but vibrant in heart. We are a cheerful, dedicated group who cherish worshipping and working together — supported by a wider circle of friends and community members who share in our mission. Through surveys, focus groups, and heartfelt conversations, we’ve learned that our community finds deep joy in worshipping God together and in the simple gifts of fellowship and shared meals. Sunday services always end around the table — food and friendship are woven into the fabric of who we are.
Our members’ wisdom, loyalty, and generosity sustain the life of the church, allowing us to thrive financially and spiritually throughout the year.
